How Many Hiking Socks Should You Buy?
2 min readA common mistake that a lot of people end up making when they decide to go on a hiking trip is assuming that they will only need one pair of socks for the journey. There is a pretty good chance that you conform to this kind of mindset as well, but the truth of the situation is that if you were to only take one pair of socks for the journey you will end up feeling really miserable. This is because of the fact that the socks are going to get worn out as time goes by, and the fact of the matter is that this isn’t the only reason why taking more than one pair is so important.
After you have worn your socks for a while, they are going to get damp and uncomfortable. This can make your feet really cold as well as cause a lot of injuries. Even if you have bought the very best hiking socks that the market has to offer right now, they are going to be susceptible to the same forms of damage that are common to other kinds of socks that are out there as well.
What this means is that you should ideally pack at least two or three pairs for the journey. Don’t go overboard though as these socks tend to be fairly heavy. Take three pairs of hiking socks and then supplement them with regular socks that you might wear in instances where you are not hiking but are rather just relaxing in a comfortable setting. This would ensure maximum enjoyment without putting all that much of a burden on you or your fellow hikers and campers coming along.
